Scholarships & Awards
University of British Columbia offers up to eight (8) scholarships which includes outstanding international student award, international leader of tomorrow award, Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award, Vantage One Excellence Award, Four Year Doctoral Fellowship, Graduate Dean’s Entrance Scholarship (GDES), International Tuition Awards and International Major Entrance Scholarship.
Outstanding International Student Award
This award is offered to international student applying newly to the University of British Columbia. However, the student is studying under the study permit and demonstrates an outstanding academic performance. The value for this scholarship ranges from $2,500 to CAN $10,000.
International Leader of Tomorrow Award
This award goes to international students that not just superior academic achievement but also have good leadership skills, great involvement in student affair and community services, great performance in art, sports creative writing, debate and other related academic competition. General assessment will be made and value of award is variable.
Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award
The Donald A Wehrung international student award goes to international undergraduate students from impoverished or war-torn areas with great academic achievements. However, such student must maintain their Canadian study permit. The award can be renewed for three additional years and value of this scholarship is variable.
Vantage One Excellence Award
This scholarship is also awarded to international student who’s neither a Canadian citizen nor permanent residence in Canada. However, such student must be applying for their first undergraduate program in UBC and have an excellent academic record and meeting up with UBC Vantage College’s English Language Admission Standard. The value of this scholarship is also variable, ranging up to the full cost of the student’s academic program and living costs.
