Selection Process at the NDA

The selection process for National Defence Academy (NDA) is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). NDA & NA (I) Exam is held twice a year generally in April and September. Candidates who want to join National Defence Academy must clear a written examination conducted by UPSC. Eligibility criteria are as follows:

Nationality: A candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit: Candidate’s age should be between 16½ to 19 years on 1st July of the year of his/her appearing at the examination i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 2001 and not later than 1st July 2003.

Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed the 10+2 Examination or its equivalent with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized University or Board. Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination may also apply but they will have to produce proof of passing the qualifying examination by 1st January 2022.

Training and Education at the National Defence Academy

  • Cadet Training:

The first stage of training is for all three services and lasts for two years.
