History of Jason Lang Scholarship
Jason Lang Scholarship was created in memory of Jason Lang, a talented and beloved athlete, and student who tragically passed away in February of 2016. Jason’s family set up the scholarship in his honor to provide financial assistance for talented students pursuing their education at an accredited college or university.
Jason was born and raised in Connecticut and competed in both track and cross country throughout high school. He attended Howard University on a full scholarship, where he was a member of the track and field team as a sprinter and jumper. Jason also played football for the Howard Hawks, earning All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors as a kick returner.
After graduating from Howard with a degree in business administration, Jason moved back home to Connecticut to start his own business. But Jason never stopped pursuing his education; he returned to Howard to earn his law degree and later completed a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
Jason was always passionate about giving back to his community. He served as an ambassador for United Way of Central Connecticut during his time there at Howard University, volunteered with Special Olympics Connecticut, coached youth football teams throughout the state, and mentored young athletes through the Jason Lang Scholarship program.
